Primary Programme
The excellence of both French and English education
Concordia School Paris follows both the French National Education Program and the English National Curriculum, using innovative methods inspired from around the world.
Our school advocates global and balanced learning, integrating sports and extracurricular activities into the curriculum.
A SOLID BASE IN FRENCH AND ENGLISH : READING - WRITING - ARITHMETIC
Our objective is for each child to acquire a solid base of fundamentals in French, English and arithmetic, so that each child can express him or herself, feel comfortable in maths and more generally work with equal ease in French and English.
Reading is an important part of Concordia School Paris. Children enjoy daily reading time in a playful and comfortable corner of the classroom.
Mathematics is taught according to an approach inspired by high-performing educational systems internationally, particularly those of Asian countries such as Singapore, South Korea and China. This fun and concrete approach helps children understand maths through solving everyday problems. This method of manual manipulation before abstract concepts provides a tangible understanding of the usefulness of maths and offers an excellent foundation for children to better understand complex concepts. In addition, teachers in every class reinforce an expectation that all pupils are capable of achieving high standards in mathematics. From CP (1st grade), we encourage the systematic and progressive training of mental arithmetic and thoughtful reasoning on a daily basis.
A FOCUS ON SCIENCE
Children engage in the scientific process: "How can we think and behave as scientists and engineers?"
Through scientific experiments, they discover in a playful way the concrete application of science, mathematics and technology (STEM) in everyday life. Here Concordia follows an English methodology that goes further than the French National Education programme.
The children will be taken on outdoor excursions relating to their studies, as well as taught to become "doers" by having them face concrete challenges that they must solve alone or as a team.
ALL SUBJECTS TAUGHT IN BOTH LANGUAGES
Our students will reach an equivalent level in French and English by the end of CM2 (fifth grade).
We do not teach English - we teach in English.
Beyond the use of a second language, bilingualism has many virtues. It stimulates children to engage in mental gymnastics, useful for any type of reasoning.
At the end of their time at Concordia, children will be able to join the French or English academic systems.
ACQUISITION OF REASONING - SYNTHESIZING – DEBATE SKILLS/PUBLIC SPEAKING - WORKING AS A TEAM
Concordia helps our children develop intellectual agility, analytical skills and a sharp critical mind.
All of our children learn to structure their thinking and express themselves clearly in order to communicate with others. Our teachers train their pupils to construct a reasoned argument, to synthesize ideas and to be persuasive.
At the same time, the children work on oral expression and debate techniques.
Concordia is proud to offer theatre courses through a certified educator of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), which enables our children to develop their fluency in oral communication.
COMPREHENSIVE AND BALANCED LEARNING – INTEGRATING SPORT AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Physical activity is essential for balanced development. We at Concordia want each child to employ his or her physical strength and agility.
From CP (1st grade), Concordia’s children spend between 3 and 4 hours per week taking part in sport activities. They participate in precision sports, endurance sports and team sports.
Extracurricular activities also play an integral part of the curriculum. They are intended to deepen and illustrate certain aspects of the programme, with a focus on the concrete rather than the academic.
With this in mind, Concordia’s children practice yoga, singing, theatre, chess and more.
