Safeguarding Policy & Procedure

📄 Statutory policy 📅 August 2025 🔄 Reviewed annually

Our Commitment

Concordia School Paris is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and to providing a safe environment for every child entrusted to our care. We follow both French regulations and best practice from international schools.

This document is a practical guide to our safeguarding procedures and complements our full Safeguarding Policy, which is reviewed annually.

Safeguarding Team

Our Safeguarding Team is composed of:

  • Tim Brock — Head of School & Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Ishbel Glen-Murdoch
  • Florence Fournier
  • Nareh Astourian

MyConcern — Our Safeguarding Platform

We use MyConcern as our central registry for all safeguarding concerns. This secure platform ensures that every concern is logged, monitored, and acted upon promptly.

How concerns are handled

  1. All staff have been given login access to the MyConcern platform and receive regular training.
  2. Once submitted, concerns are automatically logged and reviewed by the Safeguarding Jury (Tim Brock, Florence Fournier and Ishbel Glen-Murdoch).
  3. The Jury meets promptly to discuss each concern and determine next steps.
  4. The reporting staff member always receives an acknowledgement of their report, though outcomes are kept confidential.
Confidentiality is critical. Safeguarding matters are not discussed with colleagues, students, or parents unless specifically instructed by the Safeguarding Jury. In urgent situations where immediate danger is suspected, staff take immediate action and inform the designated safeguarding lead or their deputy in person.

Outcomes & Referrals

Depending on the nature of the concern, different outcomes may follow, in line with French law:

  • Internal follow-up and monitoring by the team
  • Contact with the family to offer support or guidance
  • Referral to external professionals (school doctor, psychologist)
  • Official report (signalement) to the Cellule de Recueil des Informations Préoccupantes (CRIP) or to Justice, in cases where a child may be in danger or at risk

Staff Training

All staff have access to the TES Develop training platform. As a minimum, every member of staff is required to complete the Child Protection Basics for International Schools module. Staff are strongly encouraged to go beyond the basics and take advantage of the excellent child protection and wellbeing courses available on the platform.
